Why is CHOCOLATE MAVEN a Farm to Restaurant participant?
Owner Dharm Khalsa and Chef Sat Kartar Khalsa work with various farmers that deliver to the restaurant. Others, they meet at the market, if there is a great reason to get that particular farm's produce. Given the same price and same product, the farm that can deliver is going to get the business. They currently purchase root vegetables from Gemini Farms and kale, chard and salad greens from Khalsa Greenhouses. They also buy lamb regularly from Talus Wind Ranch and many local cheeses from Bountiful Cow; chicken from Pollo Real. They plan to continue to reach out and work with producers that have the capacity and consistency of product and new, exciting varieties. And are planning on purchasing through Farm to Restaurant Delivers.
Why is purchasing local food important to Chocolate Maven?
We are a small, local business. We need support from our community to grow and prosper. We believe in supporting other local businesses, farmers and producers to create a strong, thriving community. We also love serving fresh, delicious, food to our customers and buying local helps us do just that.
Ask the staff!
The staff knows all about the veggies and where they came from so they can explain to customers. You can also find the local food mentioned in the menu & in advertising.
