Why is ANNAPURNA a Farm to Restaurant participant?
Chef Jennifer Nelson works with both Los Pablanos Organics and some other farmers directly which is a very convenient method for her. Los Pablanos is a CSA and drops off their boxes of regional vegetables to their members at Annapurna. At the same time, they drop off vegetables for the restaurant.
Why is buying local important?
"Purchasing local food is very important to Annapurna for the simple reason that we love to support the community and it enriches the already wonderful food we serve."Who does she buy from and what does she buy?
All different kinds of veggies from Los Poblanos • Wheatgrass from Sungreen Living Foods • Seasonal items from Harry Khalsa in Espanola. They buy according to season and the amounts depend on what growers have available at the time.
What is the average annual percentage spent on local foods for Annapurna?
21-40%
