Why is Amavi a Farm to Restaurant participant?
Chef Megan Tucker has been purchasing local food through many avenues: Farmers Market, Direct from Farmer, Farm to Restaurant Delivers, La Montanita Co-op and others.
Why is purchasing local important?
Top 4 reasons Amavi purchases local food:What does she buy and from whom?
- local companies and families benefit directly.
- I know where the food comes from and the people who grow it.
- The food is fresher and of better quality.
- In buying local, we are not supporting agri-buisness that produce GMOs & have unsafe working environments.
She purchases through the Farm to Restaurant Delivers system as well as, lamb shoulder & t-bone steaks from Talus Wind Ranch, chicken & chicken liver from Pollo Real, tomatoes, cucumbers & chard from Tomato Girl Heirlooms.

41-60% Wow!!!!!
Ask the Staff!
She prints their menus daily and has a pre-service meeting where she talks about new menu items. She even keeps a binder for the staff with information about the farms.
